There are several ways we can start our journey to living a happier, more abundant life. Some will go instantly to the S.M.A.R.T goals, and quickly jump outside their comfort zone. This approach sends most people back to the starting line in a short period of time. This post aims to share challenges we all face. We experience these when trying to make the first changes in our lives. As I earlier mentioned, there are many opinions on starting this transformational journey. Yet, I have found this approach to be the most effective for the largest number of people, including myself. We all have unconscious self-limiting beliefs that we work against as we go on our journey. Especially when we are first starting. This content will help you to discover those unconscious thoughts. It will allow you to deal with them. Addressing these thoughts greatly reduces the resistance in your journey.
Take 100% Responsibility
Taking responsibility for your your life doesn’t mean that you blame yourself for where you are. It just means that you completely accept where you are. Then you won’t become a victim of circumstances, by blaming someone or something else. The Mind Architect, Peter Crone has a phrase. It was the starting point that allowed me to take responsibility for my own circumstances. He says “your life couldn’t have happened any other way, and I know that because it didn’t.” Really think about that statement. There is no return on investment in trying to change the past, because your past only exists in your mind. It is no longer accessible from the present moment, except in thought. The future also exists only in thought. Taking 100% responsibility in the present moment is the only path that has any basis in reality. You can and should set your goals, and plans for the future. This process will help you find what you need to do right now to move forward. You have no idea what is going to happen in the future. Accept that and take 100% responsibility for what you are going to do right now.
It doesn’t matter who is to blame if you take responsibility for the solution. It also removes any excuse for failure. You are the only one that can act in the present moment to keep moving toward your goals.
Let Your Goals Show You What You Need to Get Free From
Sit down and write out your top three moonshot goals. These are big goals that you think will make your life complete. Imagine in your mind’s eye, what a day in your life will look like once you achieve them. Imagine, and become the person, who is the person who has and does all those things. As you do this become keenly aware of any self-limiting beliefs. These usually come in the form of thoughts like: “you can’t do that.”, “the economy is bad, how is that going to work?”, “remember what happened the last time you tried.”, “your just not that smart”. “what will your parents think?”. If you get these kinds of thoughts, you are in good company we all do. These thoughts are just the opportunities for you to see where you need to work. Another Peter Crone quote comes to mind here. “Life will present you with people and circumstances to reveal where you are not free.” In this case you are just helping life along by setting these moonshot goals. Setting these goals reveal all the things you need to overcome, so you can succeed.
These Limiting Beliefs are NOT True, and Definitely NOT You.
This may be hard for some of you to believe. Most of our perceived identities were mostly set by the time we were 7 to 10 years old. Events can happen beyond 7 to 10 that further shape our believed identity. These events can be traumatic or non-traumatic. We look back on our lives. We see the way we reacted to things, and all the circumstances up until this moment. This is the person that most people identify with, but this is not who you are. These are the things and events that are coming up for you, when you set the moonshot goals. At your core, you are full of possibilities. You are capable of things beyond what you can now believe. It is these past beliefs, thoughts, and events that enter your mind. They serve as the ropes that hold you back from your dreams.
Start Practicing Without Being Dependent on the Outcome
Once you really get that you are 100% responsible, and that you are beyond capable of achieving your goals, it is time to start practicing. Have you ever noticed that the most highly knowledgeable and educated professions, call their business a “practice”. This is no accident. No matter where we are in life, we are practicing with an open mind to become better. Viewing your life’s goals as practice also helps you to no be so dependent on the outcome. There are a million things that can happen to propel or slow you goal achievement down. You have no idea what these things will be how they will unfold. If you treat it as practicing becoming the kind of person who is and has all of our desired reality.
Be Grateful for What You Have and Where You are Going
The number one way to ensure your success is to learn to be grateful for what you already have. Appreciate also the things you have not yet achieved. You are where you are, and you couldn’t be anywhere else because you’re not. Can you be grateful for that, and the opportunity to transform your life in a positive way?
